Cham, 21 December 2021. UMB AG will soon be incorporated into BKW Building Solutions. BKW is focusing on technological progress in its drive to expand its services division. Thanks to UMB’s outstanding expertise, which is unique in Switzerland, BKW will be one of the country’s leading IT service providers. UMB will remain an independent company and continue to operate in the market under the UMB brand.

BKW and UMB – the industrial logic behind the merger is clear
With its cutting-edge expertise in consulting, cloud, digital transformation, modern workplace, security and infrastructure, the UMB team supports its clients with inspiring simplicity and great enthusiasm in the digital transformation of their business. As a network company of BKW Building Solutions, it will strengthen this approach further. The merger will allow BKW to offer its customers comprehensive IT solutions on the one hand, while enhancing the technological and digital arsenal of the entire Group on the other. The IT companies already in the BKW Building Solutions network, i.e., swisspro Solutions, ngworx and alphaTrust, will be integrated into UMB in the medium term. This move will expand the UMB team to more than 800 employees with excellent knowledge in the field of business and technology transformation. UMB is an ideal partner for BKW, allowing it to implement its entrepreneurial growth strategy even more effectively. After all, BKW has proven that it can successfully help independent companies to develop.
New CEO Martin Gartmann ensures continuity
Starting in the new year, the company will be led by Martin Gartmann, who has been a part of the UMB team for many years. He currently holds the position of Chief Sales Officer & Business Development and has played an important role in UMB’s successful history. “I am extremely excited to start the next chapter in the success story that is UMB in my new position as CEO, working with our unique team and that of BKW to take us and our customers into the future.” The current owner and CEO, Matthias Keller, is managing his succession in a forward-looking way, and will continue to work for BKW and, as such, UMB at the strategic level. There are plans for Keller to become a member of the board of BKW Building Solutions. “The industrial logic behind the merger with BKW is clear, and the move will facilitate the successful, sustainable expansion of UMB. Our customers, partners and colleagues all stand to benefit.”
The acquisition is set to be completed in the first quarter of 2022 subject to regulatory authorisation.
UMB Solutions AG remains in the hands of its founders
UMB Solutions AG, today a subsidiary of UMB, focuses on agile software development and process optimisation and employs 80 staff at two sites in Wallisellen (Switzerland) and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). It will remain in the hands of its founders, with Matthias Keller as the majority shareholder and Patrick Brazzale as the CEO. The two companies will continue to work closely together.
