More time for aircraft development thanks to SAP Basis Operation by UMB.
Founded in 1939, Pilatus Aircraft Ltd. is the only Swiss company developing, building, and selling aircraft on all continents: from the legendary Pilatus Porter PC-6 to the best-selling single-engine turboprop aircraft in its class, the PC-12, to the PC-21, the training system of the future. The latest aircraft is the PC-24 - the world's first business jet capable of operating on short unpaved runways.
UMB has been in charge of Pilatus' entire SAP system landscape since 2011 and is responsible for operating and maintaining the entire SAP infrastructure.
Pilatus lays the foundation for the SAP Business Suite on HANA
In a first step, UMB migrated the existing SAP system platform under Windows/SQL to the new hardware platform and was now ready for the upcoming HANA migration. At the same time the enhancement package upgrade to version ECC 618 / EHP8 was completed.
In a second phase, the existing Windows platform with SQL databases was migrated to the SAP HANA environment. For this purpose, UMB installed three dedicated HANA servers running on the Suse Linux operating system. The Windows Server operating system remains installed on SAP instances. By separating application server and database the systems can now be operated and maintained more flexibly.
With its geo-redundant data centre infrastructures and the disaster recovery service, UMB guarantees the highest level of security with regard to the availability of customer data.
As a result, Pilatus is ready for subsequent migration to SAP S/4HANA.
More time to dream about flying.
Reliability is the highest priority in aircraft construction. That is why we rely on UMB to look after our SAP environment.
