Flexible, Secure, Future-Oriented: How Pratteln Optimizes Alerting and Communication with UMB.

Whether for handling dangerous situations in schools, evacuating public buildings, managing communications on construction sites, or facilitating remote working: UMB relies on technologies that redefine efficiency and user-friendliness.

#Unified Communications   #Alarming

The municipality of Pratteln in the canton of Basel-Landschaft is breaking new ground - and not just in terms of space. While preparations are underway for the relocation of the municipal administration in 2026 with many temporary buildings, Pratteln is already laying the foundations for flexible and secure communication with innovative UCC (Unified Communication & Collaboration) solutions.

Shaping the future - digital and mobile

With a population of approximately 17,000, the community is growing. Until future plans for a new administration building are realized, the municipality relies on flexible workplaces - whether temporary, mobile or home offices. The move to temporary offices requires minimal cabling. Wireless technologies such as mobile UCC and DECT ensure fast, reliable and flexible integration.

Communication for optimal collaboration

The hybrid-cloud-based Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise solution automates processes such as receiving and routing calls, delivering significant efficiencies for employees and citizens. The flexible UCC solutions make it easier to integrate remote workstations, whether in temporary locations, on construction sites or in home offices. This helps Pratteln Municipality to meet the increasing demands resulting from constant growth and ongoing building renovation projects.

Thanks to this technology, communication is optimized, work processes are simplified, and the municipality can react flexibly to changes. This solution for new, mobile and efficient working will support Pratteln’s administration during the relocation phase as well as in the new administration building in 2027.

Crisis management in real time

In the past, the alarm and crisis management processes in the Pratteln municipal administration were fragmented and difficult to manage. With MobiCall of UMB partner NewVoice International, a user-friendly, central platform was introduced that enables real-time alerting and crisis management - from lockdown alerts and emergency notifications in schools to the evacuation of public buildings.

The UMB Alarming solution enables public institutions to respond flexibly, quickly and efficiently in emergencies. Alarms can be customised via an app, evacuation plans can be activated and immediate action can be taken in crisis situations. Seamless integration enables direct communication - from central offices to mobile devices.

Alerts and evacuations can now be coordinated in real time, regardless of location, ensuring safety and fast response times. It’s a scalable solution that meets the specific requirements of public institutions and optimizes collaboration in emergencies.

A strong partner: UMB

With more than 200 users, the new solution offers a perfect mix of modern cloud technology, easy administration and long-term investment security. In this project, UMB, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise and NewVoice International have demonstrated how close collaboration and the right technologies can create the foundation for sustainable and future-proof transformation in the public sector.

UMB's hybrid cloud approach ensures that the solution grows according to requirements today and in the future. Simple administration and rapid integration of new workstations make it easy for Pratteln to react to changes and keep up with the times.

UMB and UCC make communication and cloud collaboration flexible, practical, and future-proof for Pratteln and its population.

Our experiences show that UMB has suitable solutions for any customer requirements. For our project, a dream team of customer and UMB engineer was established that far exceeded our expectations. That's how trust in partners works!
