BLS connects people and regions in Switzerland – reliably, comfortably, and in an environmentally friendly way. The company also connects its employees: To promote collaboration, three locations previously scattered across Bern were merged into a central building on Europaplatz. Together with the experts from UMB, BLS has created modern meeting rooms there that enable new and better forms of collaboration – and thus create valuable time for the friendly railway company.

Three locations in Bern consolidated
For many years, BLS maintained three locations in Bern – on Genfergasse, near the Bollwerk and in Köniz. With the relocation of around 900 employees to the modern Forum West building on Europaplatz, BLS is creating an ideal, centrally located and modern working environment.
The new location is, of course, easily accessible by public transport. BLS requires less office space, and the shared workplace creates significantly better conditions for collaboration.
New meeting rooms with expertise and technology from UMB, Yealink, and Microsoft
UMB's communication experts equipped 60 meeting rooms at Europlatz in Bern with state-of-the-art collaboration technology based on Yealink. Different solutions were used depending on the size and intended use of each room. Thanks to Yealink's extensive product range, an optimal connection can be established in every room. BLS employees particularly appreciate the perfect coordination of image and sound, which creates an almost real meeting experience for participants who are connected remotely.
All systems are fully integrated with Microsoft Teams, which makes it easy to involve external parties. This is particularly useful for BLS employees who are often out of the office. AI-powered video and audio technology platform for modern conference rooms
- The “AI-based video analysis” category includes technologies such as IntelliFocus, Auto-Framing, Speaker Tracking, and Video Fence. These technologies enable cameras to automatically recognize people, track speakers, optimally position groups within the frame, and hide unwanted areas using virtual boundaries (Video Fence).
- AI-assisted audiovisual signal processing uses state-of-the-art algorithms and a digital signal processor (DSP) with adaptive echo cancellation, intelligent noise and reverberation suppression, and room acoustics optimization. It dynamically adjusts audio quality and speech intelligibility to the room conditions and conversation situations.
- Native Teams integration and the latest security features thanks to uniform Android 13 (AOSP) stand for platform-integrated, secure unified communications infrastructure.
