IBM Storage Defender for the next level of protection
The IBM Storage Defender software suite uses AI-powered visualization tools that clearly illustrate relationships between storage systems, backups, and user groups. Threats such as ransomware are highlighted in color, for example with red alerts, enabling security teams to respond more quickly. Integration with SIEM tools[iv] such as IBM QRadar and single sign-on with providers such as Microsoft Entra ID ensures seamless security. Storage Defender automatically creates immutable backups, analyzes data patterns such as encryption changes, and provides clean room support for restores in minutes. Combined with FlashSystem, the solution protects data across primary and secondary storage and supports complex hybrid environments.
IBM Power11 and Power Cyber Vault
With the introduction of the IBM Power11 platform this summer, IBM has shifted protection directly to the computing level. At its core is IBM Power Cyber Vault, a solution that connects the new Power11 servers with IBM Flash Systems and Storage Defender. Power11 uses PowerSC and AI Inference to analyze data streams in parallel with FCM4 and integrates with Storage Defender for automated alerts. Power Cyber Vault is an integrated cyber resilience solution in accordance with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework[v]. IBM Power Cyber Vault minimizes recovery times to minutes and protects against high costs (such as ransom demands from cyber extortionists) by enabling orchestrated recovery processes. The platform also offers optimized scalability to efficiently manage workloads in hybrid multi-cloud environments and supports up to 24 TB of storage per node. New hardware-based security modules (HSMs) increase protection against physical and logical attacks. Quantum-safe encryption and 99.9999 percent availability make it ideal for critical workloads[vi]. Integration with IBM Spectrum Virtualize also ensures seamless data migration and replication across different locations. IBM PowerSC, a security and compliance solution for virtualized environments on IBM Power servers that offers features such as automatic configuration checking, patch management, firewall, and multi-factor authentication, further helps to enhance the security of IBM Power systems, detect threats in real time, automate and ensure compliance, and simplify audit readiness in regulated industries.
