Microsoft Exchange 2010 reaches the end of its extended support phase on January 14, 2020. Companies still using Exchange 2010 should start preparing for the migration now. Alternatives are the cloud-based Exchange version (stand-alone or with Office 365) and the local versions, Exchange Server 2016 and 2019.

There are many misconceptions when it comes to important business data in the cloud. This is also true for Office 365. One of the most common misunderstandings is caused by confusing replication and backup. Replication ensures availability, but only backup ensures recoverability.
Here are some very optimistic and often heard user assessments:
"I don't have to back up my data in the cloud because my cloud provider takes care of that for me."

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11, currently with Service Pack 4, has been the standard SAP operating system for many years. Even today, the majority of SAP and SAP HANA systems are operated on a SUSE basis. On March 31, however, standard support for version 11 finally came to an end.

The shifting of business activities into the cloud, involving containers and PaaS (Platforms as a Service), plays a key role in these activities. Last year, cloud computing revenues of approximately CHF 143 billion were generated worldwide. A large part of these services relate to the outsourcing and backup of data in the cloud. Cloud providers are well aware that business customers attach top priority to the security of their outsourced data. Compliance requirements must be met as well; the new European Data Protection Ordinance (GDPR) is also affecting the outsourcing of data in Switzerland.

A digitization gap exists in Switzerland. Consumers are not to blame - they have long been enthralled by the digital revolution, and digitization had reached many of them even before they started using their smartphones. The situation is different for many Swiss SMEs. Major problems exist in accessing real digitization, including cognitive processes.
